If you’re human, you probably operate somewhere on the Perfectionism continuum. And why not, since perfectionism masquerades as something constructive and a sense of striving for excellence? Yet, upon examination, perfectionism can chain you down and lead to self-sabotaging behaviors, low output, and a feeling of anxiety that permeates your waking hours, even in the midst of your success and triumphs.
This mindset is dated! In our industry today, it’s all about failing fast to succeed sooner, where experimentation, risk-taking, and being enough are the currency of the realm. Who has time to be stalled by perfectionism?
How can we bring awareness to the perfectionistic blind spots that exist in our daily work, in managing our careers, in selecting the projects we pursue and those we don’t, and the opportunities we pass up?
Join Women in Technology: Hollywood for our fall event with a keynote address and workshop, where we will pry open the perfectionism prison and give you practical, pragmatic practices to unleash higher levels of performance, satisfaction, vitality and confidence in your decisions!
Courage versus Perfection
Nell Merlino knows a thing or two about scaling, disrupting the status quo, and mobilizing millions (of people and dollars.) She launched the “Take our Daughters to Work” movement, which caused 25 million people across the US to bring their girls to work in 1993, mustering up this movement with just 2 fax machines. Keep in mind this was before the internet, before Influencers and going viral. Since then, she created an initiative for female entrepreneurs called, “Make Mine a Million $ Business” (think Shark Tank for women.)
Nell will share her principles and practices to stop your hesitation and get to action. You can be an unstoppable force of nature with your impact in work and life!
(Im)Perfection Lab: How to embrace our uniqueness for greater creativity, growth & influence
This workshop (Lab) is unlike conventional training programs. We’ll explore how perfectionist tendencies hold us back from achieving our best. Learn how to assess your current mindset, identify what’s holding you back and how you can disrupt the perfectionist way of thinking that limits our own opportunity. There will be a lot less thinking and much more doing and interacting giving you the space to experiment with different ideas, try new things, get messy, make mistakes and discover the fun and freedom in letting go.
Jasmine Ferres, Coach for Collective Gain and Founder of Tosha Coaching + Consulting, and professional coaches from Collective Gain will be on hand in the audience to support everyone through the workshop process. You’ll come away with a new way forward, a growth-centered perspective and actionable next steps to unlocking your highest potential.
