Susan Akbarpour
Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Mavatar

As a media guru, product designer, entrepreneur and investor, Susan Akbarpour has over 30 years of hands-on experience building innovative products and businesses in technology and media. She is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of Mavatar, the company she founded in 2011 based on her research in graduate school, soon after receiving her MS in Management from Stanford University in 2010.

mCart, the flagship product of Mavatar, is the focal point of a whole product which consists of:

• An omnichannel marketplace Platform as-a-Service (PaaS)
• Shop-able content publishing PaaS
• AI & blockchain-based affiliate PaaS
• Data-driven CRM as-a-Service

mCarts play the role of ambassadors of their respective marketplaces, leading shoppers to the marketplace and significantly reducing the marketing cost for these marketplaces to establish themselves.

The platforms powered by mCart software disrupt the way retail and media industries interact, allowing them to effectively collaborate to improve user acquisition and retention as well as monetization of content.

The platform is the subject of a number of patent applications, trademarks with global coverage, as well as multiple third-party integrations which allow customers to streamline the entire path to purchase.

Throughout her journey as an entrepreneur, journalist, publisher, investor, board member, community advocate and political fundraiser, Susan has received multiple media, community and business awards, spoken at various conferences, and is frequently featured in mainstream media. Susan is also a partner at Candou Ventures, member of the board of directors at IMA International Executive Council and VOMax Corporation, advisory board member to Trustroot, member of Stanford Business School Alumni Association and Stanford Women on Boards, a prestige member of Watermark (a nonprofit organization that is a community of executive women), and a contributing writer to Forbes.
