Tokyo-based IPG Inc., which specializes in media and entertainment TV data, has begun carrying EIDR metadata in its feeds and solutions across all media content worldwide, the company announced.
By assigning a new EIDR ID to the viewing content data to which IPG had previously assigned its own unique identification ID, IPG will ensure the uniqueness of all viewing content worldwide and revitalize the distribution of content, the company said.
IPG has started applying for and registering EIDR IDs for the content viewed from May 2024. By assigning the issued EIDR IDs to IPG’s unique identification IDs, search engines will be able to more easily identify series and seasons, and when searching for actors, broadcast dates, and other information, they will be able to quickly and accurately lead users to search results without mixing up information on content with the same name. The search engine will be able to quickly and accurately direct users to search results.
Currently, EIDR ID registration operation has begun for some viewing content based on domestic broadcast information, and the scope of registration will be gradually expanded to activate the distribution of viewing content.
IPG is an authorized partner company that officially receives content information from broadcasters and distributors nationwide and officially operates viewing content metadata. Through the operation of the electronic programming list service “G-GUIDE” and the advancement of viewing content metadata, IPG optimizes the matching of viewers with consumers and provides a rich viewing experience.
