Modernizing the Registry on the Docket at EIDR APM

Discussing ways to modernize the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR) will be a hot topic April 24 at the organization’s Annual Participant Meeting.

In the panel “Modernizing the Registry: Infrastructure, Intelligence, and Long-Term Sustainability,” panelists will discuss the significant modernization efforts to strengthen the technical foundation of the registry that EIDR has taken in the last year. This session brings together board members to discuss the rationale for these investments, the evolution toward AI- and machine-learning-assisted processes, and the long-term strategy to ensure scalability, precision, and cost sustainability.

Panelists will share why these changes matter not only for EIDR as an organization, but for the studios, streamers, broadcasters, and technology partners who depend on reliable identifiers to power automation across complex workflows.

This discussion will focus on the “why” behind modernization, what has changed, and what it unlocks for the future of interoperable metadata.

“Growing EIDR Together” is the theme of this year’s EIDR APM, which will be hosted by Google in Los Angeles.

As the volume and velocity of media continue to accelerate, EIDR’s purpose — providing a clean, persistent, interoperable identifier — has never been greater. Growth at EIDR is not just about scale. It is about strengthening the infrastructure that powers discovery, distribution, and innovation across the industry.

The 2025 edition of the EIDR APM was held at NBCUniversal and featured sessions revolving around data quality, as well as the adoption of EIDR across enterprises and streaming platforms. Studios, streaming giants, EIDR’s board, and more were on hand to celebrate what EIDR had accomplished to date, and what was on the horizon.
