Richard Kroon, technical director with the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR), will be a featured speaker Oct. 9 at the DAMA Days 2026 event at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
His fireside chat — “Data Curation, Unstructured Data, and the Future Economics of AI” — will be a highlight for the chief data officers and data scientists in attendance.
“As part of our de-duplication continuous improvement program, we're conducting a head-to-head comparison between our current machine learning system, a traditional rules-based system, and a specially-tuned LLM running on a local machine,” Kroon said. “By running our own LLM, we're able to tune its teaching cases to focus on EIDR's area of interest and diminish the distractions found in shared LLMs, which are built as general-purpose tools, not dedicated M&E record de-duplication. This will hopefully help clarify our path forward.”
