The Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR) continues to expand its international member ranks with the recent addition of two notable media and entertainment industry players: BBC Studios and MediadataTV.
BBC Studios
BBC Studios, the British content subsidiary of the BBC, is comprised of content creation (BBC Studios Productions), distribution (Global Media & Streaming), and licensing (Brands & Licensing) divisions, and all told has doubled both revenues and profits in the last five years.
BBC Studios boasts nearly 54,000 hours of programming across every genre, with content created not only for the BBC, but also for partners including Apple, Amazon, Disney, and Netflix, with further distribution to AMC Networks, France Télévisions, NHK, Nine Australia, PBS, NBC Universal, Warner Bros. Discovery and ZDF.
The company’s brands include “Dancing with the Stars,” “Doctor Who,” “Bluey,” “Top Gear” and “BBC Earth” and BBC Studios’ Global Media & Streaming business covers international direct-to-consumer streaming platforms, international TV channels, global content monetization and the global commercial operations of BBC News, outside of the UK, along with BBC.com.
The business includes 33 BBC-branded channel feeds available in more than 120 territories, and BBC Studios co-owns channels with other broadcasting partners such as BBC AMERICA with AMC Networks, BBC Earth in partnership with Sony in India, and BBC Earth and BBC First, with Blue Ant Media in Canada. The company also partners with ITV to offer audiences in eight markets the UK streaming service BritBox International. BBC Studios also owns and operate UKTV.
MediadataTV
