EIDR Grows in Both U.S., Internationally, Adding Globo, CJ ENM, Sinclair

EIDR continues to expand its presence outside of Europe and the U.S., with the recent additions of Latin America’s largest media company, Globo, and South Korean entertainment firm and retailer CJ ENM as new members. Additionally, diversified media company Sinclair, which owns, operates and/or provides broadcast services to nearly 200 TV stations in 86 markets, has also become an EIDR member.

Here’s a brief look at each company:

Globo

Sao Paulo-based Globo is Latin America’s largest media company with a wide range of free-to-air and pay TV channels and digital products and services. Its linear channels reach more than 100 million people in Brazil daily, its wide network of partner affiliates covers the entire country, with local, regional, and national content. The company operates TV Globo, a free-to-air TV channel, 26 pay TV channels, the SVOD platform Globoplay, and several digital products, including news service G1, sports offering GE.globo, and the entertainment-driven Gshow. On the production side, Globo’s original multiplatform content per year tops more than 3,000 hours each of news and entertainment. Globo’s work has taken home 17 international Emmy Awards.

CJ ENM

Seoul’s CJ ENM (CJ Entertainment aNd Merchandising) is an entertainment and retail company, producing everything from Broadway musicals to award-winning movies, with a few top K-POP star discoveries thrown into the mix. Media, commerce, movies and music all come out of the company’s production studios, with CJ ENM boasting a unique portfolio of original content, ranging from dramas and reality shows to informational programs, distributed in more than 200 countries. “I Can See Your Voice,” “Crash Landing on You” and “Vincenzo” are among the company’s better known series productions.

Sinclair

Hunt Valley, MD.-based Sinclair and its Sinclair Broadcast Group is a leading provider of local news and sports, owning, operating and providing services to nearly 200 TV stations in more than 85 markets, with affiliations with every major American broadcast network. Sinclair owns Tennis Channel and multicast networks Comet, CHARGE!, TBD, The Nest, and owns and provides services to 21 regional sports network brands. Sinclair’s content is delivered via multiple platforms, including over-the-air, multi-channel video program distributors, and the nation’s largest streaming aggregator of local news content, NewsON.
