EIDR Welcomes Outdoor Sportsman Group

Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG), the world’s largest media company devoted entirely to outdoor lifestyle content, has joined the Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR) to better track and identify its vast array of content. The announcement was made today by EIDR.

With several dedicated outdoor lifestyle television networks — Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, Sportsman Channel Canada and World Fishing Network — as well as the popular MyOutdoorTV (MOTV) streaming service, OSG offers a vast array of original premieres and new episodes for its outlets. The group will look to EIDR to provide the foundational metadata for all OSG properties, allowing for simplified search and discovery, analytics, rights tracking and royalty reporting in digital commerce.

“Working with EIDR will allow our Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks – Outdoor Channel, SportsmanChannel, Sportsman Channel Canada and World Fishing Network to track and identify our content to help outdoor enthusiasts more easily discover great OSG content,” Outdoor Sportsman Group Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Daniel Soane said.

EIDR’s distinctive identifiers can be easily placed as metadata within audio-visual objects across a wide variety of content, including film, SVOD and OTT, digital content and television (shows, seasons and
episodes). The accompanying metadata includes titles, edit details and technical details, enabling users to mitigate numerous inefficiencies within the cross-platform video distribution supply chain, such as time-consuming legacy processes for title matching and identification.

“We are very pleased to welcome OSG to the EIDR community,” said Kip Welch, EIDR Executive Director. EIDR is designed to help with distribution of digital content across multiple channels and platforms, and we look forward to helping OSG streamline its distribution operations.”
