HAND Debut Webinar to Tackle AI Talent Utilization, Monetization

On Feb. 7 talent ID management technology firm HAND (Human & Digital) will host its first-ever webinar, “Challenges and Opportunities in AI Talent Utilization.”

Moderated by Will Kreth, HAND CEO and former executive director of EIDR, and Muki Kulhan, innovation co-lead of the IBC Accelerator program, the 1.5-hour event aims to offer valuable insights into the mostly uncharted landscape of AI for talent in the entertainment industry.

Industry experts will touch on several crucial topics, including AI talent utilization, deepfake authentication, AI talent monetization, and the ethical and legal considerations of AI’s impact on talent, and how AI will impact Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) rights and compensation.

The event will be comprised of three panels:

  • “The State of AI Talent Utilization” will explore the status and outlook affecting NIL rights and compensation for legal, virtual, and fictional talent in film, TV, sports, gaming, and beyond. Renard Jenkins, president of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and Natalie Monbiot, head of strategy at Hour One, will discuss.
  • “Battling Deepfakes” delves into the ongoing industry efforts to combat deepfakes, understanding the scale of the issue, and predicting its trajectory. Confirmed panelists include Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, executive director of SAG-AFTRA, and Walter Pasquarelli, contributor to The Economist and advisor on AI strategy and generative AI.
  • “AI Talent Monetization” will unpack the mechanisms behind capturing AI talent royalties and residuals in Hollywood after the SAG and WGA strikes, and the use and tracking of “digital replicas.” Panelists include Simon Pulman, partner and media and entertainment co-chair at Pryor Cashman, a pro sports player association representative, and a major U.S. talent agency representative.

The HAND event will run from 9-10:30 a.m. PT via Zoom. To register for free, click here.
