May 1 EIDR 2.7 Registry and Schema Release

The EIDR 2.7 registry and schema update is scheduled for relase to the Sandbox and Production systems on May 1 between 6-8 a.m. PT. Normal operations will be interrupted during this time.

This release ends support for EIDR schema version 1.2. All newer API and SDK integrations through 2.6 will automatically trigger compatibility support and continue to work without change. Any new integrations should reference the 2.7 schema and associated APIs and SDKs.

Detailed release notes will be published to the EIDR Members Resource page, following the release. Version 2.7 of the registry adds additional controlled vocabulary, expanded video service time zones, and more.

New to the registry’s vocabulary for edit use are the options “Airline” and “Streaming,” while the term “General” is being replaced with the term “Multiuse.” The new version also includes an edit class update, removing “Technical” and for compatibility, converting to “Other.”

The new version also adds a new alt ID type, called “ShortDOI.” The new alternative resolves to the original EIDR ID, but users can identify content with a shorter number that does not contain a dash or backslash.

Version 2.7 also adds new series and season classes, “LimitedSeries,” and for Video Service Delivery Model, removes “Internet.”

The expanded video services time zone list adds nearly 40 previously unincluded time zoned codes, covering six continents, as well as the International Date Line West.

EIDR has also expanded Video Service Registry updates that allow for public resolution of Video Service IDs, and under Schema Deprecation, the EIDR schema/API version 1.2 will be deprecated and no longer included in backwards compatibility support.
