How We Work

EIDR combines a structured hierarchy with flexible relationships, allowing content to be identified, organized, and connected across the full media lifecycle.

Movie → Edit → Clip → Trailer

(with relationships)

EIDR identifies content at multiple levels, from the core title through its various versions and related assets. A movie can have multiple edits, and each edit can be associated with clips, trailers, and other derived content. Lightweight relationships allow these assets to be connected flexibly, even when they don’t fit into a strict hierarchy.

Series → Season → Episode → Edit → Manifestation

EIDR’s core structure follows a clear hierarchy from series to manifestation. Series are broken into seasons and episodes, which are then represented as specific edits and technical manifestations. Additional assets, such as clips, can be linked as well, allowing organizations to track both the structure and provenance of content.

Compilation grouping

EIDR also supports grouping records as compilations, which bring together content from multiple sources. A compilation can include episodes, edits, clips, trailers, and other assets, making it easier to represent bundles, curated collections, themed groupings, or packaged content offerings.
